Marquinho: PSG lost to Lens not because without Messi and Neymar, because PSG also won without anyone
Paris Saint-Germain did not lose the Lens because Lionel Messi and Neymar did not play, according to captain Marquinhos.
The Ligue 1 leaders tasted their first defeat of the season with goals from Przemyslaw Frankowski, Lois Openda and Alexis Claude-Maurice securing a 3-1 defeat at Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Sunday.
Christophe Galtier's side have lost key staff, with Messi returning from a World Cup break and Neymar suspended after receiving a red card against Strasbourg.
However, Marquinhos declined to point out the shortcomings of his former Barcelona partner, instead citing PSG's defeat as a stronger rival.
"They are great players who can change the game. But we have already won without them. We have to find the harmony of our team again. I think the lens is more effective, especially in the first half. They won the game making a difference. "We had a chance to fight back to score, but we could not be as effective as them."
