Former Chelsea and Nigerian midfielder John Mikel Obi has retired from football at the age of 35 . The midfielder, who won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012, made 89 appearances for Nigeria and helped the team win the Africa Cup of Nations. In 2013, he retired from the national team in 2019.
He made 149 Premier League appearances for Chelsea and helped the club win trophies, including the Europa League, the Premier League twice, FA Cup 4 times and League Cup twice. After leaving Chelsea, John Mikel Obi moved to Chinese clubs Tianjin TEDA, Middlesbrough, Trabzonspor, Stoke City and finally Kuwait SC.
