Former Blackburn goalkeeper Steven Drench says David Raya giant arm is one of the reasons he has become such a successful goalkeeper.
Raya moved to Blackburn at the age of 15 in 2012 and has lived in the UK ever since. Now at Arsenal Drench recalls how the Spaniard was signed at the time.
He said that even at a young age the road away from his home in Catalonia Raya showed signs that he was capable of reaching the highest level of competition.
He may not have the normal height of a luxury goalkeeper but he has other things like agility passing and discipline. And of course those giant arms are as big as a shovel.
When he was 16 I coached him like I did for an 18-year-old and he could catch everything. His hands are good and very big.
Raya is understood to be wearing the 11th largest goalkeeper gloves. The 28-year-old has missed just twice in five games.
