Karim Benzema is reportedly considering leaving Al Ittihad despite joining the club seven years ago. Last month after parting ways with Real Madrid.
And according to Fabrice Hawkings of RMC Sport the Frenchman could return to his former club Lyon where the striker began his career. During his time with Les Gones Karim scored 66 goals and 27 assists in 148 games before leaving for Madrid at the age of 22.
Fourteen years later the Ligue 1 side are interested in returning home although the financial aspects of the deal could be problematic. Benzema currently the highest paid player in Saudi Arabia earning 88 million a year will have to accept a substantial pay cut for the move.
Lyon are not the only team trying to bring Karim back to Europe while Premier League clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester United are also following suit. Follow his situation closely.
