In an exclusive interview with France Football Virgil Van Dijk revealed that Olivier Giroud is the toughest opponent he has ever faced.
Having gone through 14 tough games with Giroud representing Arsenal and Chelsea and France scoring six goals against Van Dijk. The latest clash took place in the 2019/20 season.
Despite the goal the AC Milan striker could not deny that he had a strong influence on the Liverpool captain standing in the form of a strong opponent in Van Dijk career.
I think Olivier Giroud is the toughest striker I have ever played against Van Dijk told France Football. Every time you think you caught him you made him a good score but he always managed to score in one way or another by His head his legs his knees. He scored with me often.
The Liverpool captain also named former Manchester City strikers Sergio Agüero Erling Haaland and Arsenal Gabriel Jesus as other tough rivals. They all made my game very difficult said Van Dijk.
