Real Madrid could finally succeed in their quest to sign Kylian Mbappé (25). The France captain made the choice to extend at Paris Saint-Germain rather than join the La Liga side back in the summer of 2022, however, according to Foot Mercato, Mbappé has now finally agreed to join Real Madrid.
The Athletic revealed in December that Los Blancos were to submit a limited-time offer for the Frenchman. Keen to avoid a repeat of the situation which saw Mbappé ultimately reject the club back in May 2022, Mbappé was given a deadline of mid-January to respond to the offer.
The right time for Mbappé to make the step
On 3rd January, in the wake of PSG’s Trophée des Champions victory over Toulouse FC, Mbappé said that he had not yet made a decision on his future, however, Foot Mercato report that the AS Monaco academy product has now reached an agreement to join Real Madrid upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.
Mbappé will move on a free transfer, however, as he told Prime Video Sport, his departure does not threaten the financial integrity of the club. We have managed to protect all parties, said the Frenchman earlier this month. With his departure not threatening the PSG project, neither financially nor in a sporting sense, Mbappé feels now is the right time to move to Real Madrid.
