Cristiano Ronaldo has earned another Guinness World Records title for being the highest-earning athlete in 2023.
With estimated earnings of £107.5 million in the year leading up to May 2023, Ronaldo surpassed Lionel Messi, who held the title in 2022 with earnings of around £103 million while playing for Paris Saint-Germain.
Ronaldo's income consisted of £35 million from on-field earnings and £68.5 million from endorsements. Ronaldo's off-field income is boosted by his lucrative Nike contract and his CR7-branded merchandise.
This marks the third time overall and the first time since 2017 that Ronaldo has been recognized as the world's highest-paid athlete. He joined Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League after leaving Manchester United, earning an astonishing £173 million salary, equivalent to £3.6 million per week.
In his debut season at Al Nassr, Ronaldo scored 14 goals in 19 games across all competitions.
