Man United had initially offered a new contract to David de Gea, only to backtrack on it and take it away at the last moment.
As per The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, Erik ten Hag was probably the one who made the decision to take away the contract offer.
Whitwell said on the Talk of the Devild podcast: “De Gea verbally agreed but (FA Cup) Final, Sevilla away, West Ham away.
“I definitely think Erik Ten Hag has certainly been pivotal in the decision where United have taken the deal that had been agreed off the table and are now pursuing another No.1 in Andre Onana.”
It appears that Ten Hag is showing a sense of ruthlessness with De Gea and potentially looking to replace him as the no.1.
With the Red Devils rumoured to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan, it remains to be seen what lies ahead for the Spanish keeper.
