Harry Maguire ideally wants to stay and fight for his place at Man United, claims The Athletic.
However, the Englishman is aware that he needs to regularly start more games to retain his spot on the England national team.
Maguire is aware of Gareth Southgate’s recent comments that indicated that players who regularly play for their clubs will be preferred in the national team.
This is a key reason why the centre-back could be forced to push for an exit and look to join a club that guarantees him regular football.
Sources within the transfer market believe that he is valued at around £40m. This means even if Man United are able to get that much from his sale, they’ll stil make a huge loss on him – having signed him for £80m.
One stumbling block over Maguire’s exit is his £190,000-a-week wages, which is something not many clubs can afford.
