Barcelona still owes Lionel Messi a significant amount nearly five years after his departure from the club.
According to Diario AS the club is scheduled to pay €5.95 million to Messi this coming Monday as part of the deferred salary they owe their former captain.
The payment is related to wages that were postponed during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
Meanwhile players like Marc-André ter Stegen and Frenkie de Jong rejected the club offer to defer their wages instead agreeing to extend their contracts in order to waive the owed payments.
