Benfica have officially announced that captain Nicolas Otamendi has signed a contract extension committing his future to the Lisbon-based club until June 2026. The 37-year-old defender has been a key figure both on and off the pitch since joining from Manchester City in 2020.
Otamendi played a vital role in Benfica recent campaigns featuring in 53 matches last season where he impressively contributed 8 goals and 4 assists remarkable numbers for a central defender.
Despite receiving offers from clubs in Italy Spain and Saudi Arabia Otamendi opted to stay in Portugal reaffirming his loyalty to Benfica and his respect for the club values.
