Alejandro Grimaldo has emerged as a shock transfer target for Real Madrid according to Cadena SER.

The Spanish left-back is eager to reunite with Xabi Alonso after a successful spell together at Bayer Leverkusen.

However Grimaldo understands that a move to Real Madrid may never happen unless Alvaro Carreras transfer from Benfica to Madrid falls through.

Real Madrid have reinforced their right-back position by signing Trent Alexander-Arnold to cover for a departing Lucas Vazquez.

But their left-back department remains a problem with Ferland Mendy injury prone and Fran Garcia often inefficient defensively.
