David Ornstein has provided inside information about Liverpool deal for Florian Wirtz and revealed that they were never going to pay the reported €150 million valuation for the player.
Fabrizio Romano had reported that the deal agreed would be worth up to €150 million but Ornstein reports that that was never the case.
Ornstein wrote Liverpool do not intend to meet Leverkusen reported asking price of €150m for Wirtz while the German club do not wish for the player to reach the final year of his contract which expires in 2027.
The discussions led by Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and Leverkusen managing director of sport Simon Rolfes have been mainly focused on the structure and specifically payment terms plus the nature of any add-ons.
