Manchester United hope to win the race for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.
This week United released their latest quarterly financial report showing that the strict cost-cutting measures by club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe have had an effect. Therefore even without qualifying for the Champions League United can afford to spend £60 million on Gyokeres. Arsenal remain interested in Gyokeres but the Gunners are more inclined towards Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig and have already started negotiations for the Slovenian striker.
Gyokeres had an outstanding 2024-25 season scoring 54 goals in 52 matches for Sporting. Viktor is also well acquainted with United head coach Ruben Amorim who moved from Lisbon to Manchester just in January.
