According to O Jogo Manchester City offered €50m for 23-year-old Spanish midfielder Nico Gonzalez but FC Porto rejected the bid. Despite this Gonzalez could still leave before the transfer window closes.
Although included in the squad for Monday game against Rio Ave the player is excited by the prospect of playing in England under Pep Guardiola. However Porto will need a higher offer to convince Andre Villas-Boas.
Gonzalez has a release clause of €60m and Porto is resisting the move. Barcelona are entitled to 40% of any profit above €8.4m though Porto can reduce this to 20% by paying €6m to Barcelona.
Additionall agent Jorge Mendes is entitled to a 10% commission.
