Frenkie de Jong has made it clear that the Barcelona midfielder will not accept a salary cut to renew his contract nor will he allow the club to sell him for a significant fee in the summer.
According to reports De Jong agents believe his ideal transfer value in the summer should be around €12m given that he will have just one year left on his contract.
This valuation would enable De Jong to negotiate a higher salary with a potential new club.
The Dutch midfielder has informed his teammates of his intention to stay at Barcelona and renew his contract ending months of speculation about his future.
Despite this the contract negotiations between De Jong and Barcelona remain complex.
The club had previously withdrawn a contract offer after it went unsigned and has warned De Jong that he must agree to fresh terms in the coming months or risk being sold in the summer.
