Legendary German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn is reportedly exploring the possibility of purchasing French National 2 side Girondins de Bordeaux according to Sud-Ouest.
Kahn who previously served as Bayern Munich CEO has dispatched former Olympique de Marseille president Jacques-Henri Eyraud to discuss a potential takeover with current Bordeaux owner Gérard Lopez.
Bordeaux have been struggling financially having filed for bankruptcy and narrowly avoiding judicial liquidation.
A proposed takeover by Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group fell through last summer leaving the club future uncertain.
Kahn interest in Bordeaux comes after he expressed his willingness to invest in a football club following his departure from Bayern Munich in 2023.
While Kahn entourage emphasizes that discussions are still in their infancy Eyraud positive talks with Lopez have reportedly led to further discussions with the City of Bordeaux.
