Real Madrid ambitions to sign Liverpool talented right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold have suffered an initial setback with the Reds reportedly rejecting the club bid for the Englishman.
Alexander-Arnold who is in the final year of his Liverpool contract has been a long-term target for Real Madrid and the club was hoping to secure his signature in January.
However Liverpool swift rejection of the bid means that Los Blancos will have to regroup and reassess their strategy.
Despite this early setback Real Madrid remain confident in their pursuit of Alexander-Arnold.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the season the Spanish giants believe they can still lure him to the Bernabeu on a free transfer.
Alexander-Arnold impressive form for Liverpool this season which has seen him contribute six goals in 23 appearances has only strengthened Real Madrid resolve to sign him.
