Jorge Mendes has reportedly offered Benfica 21-year-old defender Antonio Silva to Real Madrid. Silva known for his physical presence and defensive skills is already a full Portugal international and has impressed during his time at Benfica.
Despite his talent Real Madrid have decided against pursuing Silva. According to Defensa Central the Spanish club are not planning any moves for the young defender citing financial concerns and inflated transfer costs in the winter market.
Silva has fallen down the pecking order under new Benfica coach Bruno Lage who prefers Nicolas Otamendi and Tomas Araujo. This shift has raised questions about Silva long-term role at the club.
Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that David Alaba will be ready to play in the coming weeks. Additionally Aurelien Tchouameni and Raul Asencio remain options for central defence.
