Karim Benzema 36 has revealed that he is considering retirement sooner than expected. While Al-Ittihad his current club expects him to retire in 2026 Benzema has not ruled out leaving football at the end of the current season. He has already agreed with Real Madrid to return as an ambassador.
According to Relevo Benzema admitted that one of the most challenging decisions for any player is when to retire. For him it becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with the daily routines of training particularly in Saudi Arabia where sessions are held in the evening due to high daytime temperatures.
After a season and a half at Al-Ittihad Benzema is also feeling the mental fatigue from the tough start at the club. The French striker faced criticism for his performances early on and the club initial struggles didn't help.
Al-Ittihad recent improvements including new management and better facilities have made life easier for Benzema. However the mental strain of the past year and the possibility of moving back to Madrid remain factors to consider.
