Florian Wirtz has reportedly extended his contract with Bayer Leverkusen by at least one year keeping him at the club until at least the summer of 2028.
According to Kicker both parties have agreed on the deal ensuring Wirtz will remain with the Bundesliga side through the 2025-26 season despite interest from several clubs including Bayern Munich.
This contract extension puts Bayer Leverkusen in a strong position as they prepare for the summer of 2026. Without the extension the club would have faced a tough negotiation with suitors a year before his original deal expired.
The report also states that Wirtz decision to extend was influenced by his gratitude to Bayer Leverkusen. As part of his new contract the 21-year-old is set to become the club highest-paid player earning a double-digit million salary annually though it will fall well below €20 million.
This deal also makes a move to Bayern Munich in 2025 almost impossible for Wirtz with the player now committed to Leverkusen for the foreseeable future.
