I am living a special stage and a feeling after playing football in Cambodia for 5 years. I have finally become a Cambodian citizen. A dream come true. These are the words of the newly naturalized Cambodian player Andres Neito Rondon on his IG account.
He along with two other players Japanese-Khmer Oshi Takaki and Ivorian Koulibaly Abdel-Khoulder were summoned by the Cambodian Football Federation and the Cambodian national team coach to a training camp in preparation for the AFF Championship 2024.
On his IG social network Andres Nieto wrote in English with a Khmer meaning like this. Therefore I am fully grateful. First of all thank you to Phnom Penh Crown Club for opening the door for me to come to Cambodia to show my abilities.
At the same time I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Football Federation of Cambodia everyone who has been working on this naturalization. It is very important for my career and my future. I promise in advance to represent this beautiful country with the utmost respect professionalism and humility in the same way that I will continue to uphold my country of origin Colombia. I did not think twice when the Cambodian national team manager asked me about joining the national team.
For me because Cambodia is a great country and has always accepted me and played in Cambodia year after year the league has improved so as the league has improved I have seen the opportunity to join the national team.
