Barcelona will be paid a total of €3 million by FIFA by the time Ronald Araujo fully recovers from his injury in December. This is based on FIFA laid-down statutes.
Clubs must be compensated by FIFA when a player is ruled out for a considerable period due to an injury picked up while playing a FIFA-organised tournament.
Araujo is yet to play for Barcelona this season due to the injury he picked up while playing in Copa America for Uruguay back in July.
One year ago Gavi suffered an ACL injury while playing for Spain in the Euro qualifier. The midfielder only returned last month with FIFA paying Barcelona a €6.3m compensation.
Including the €300.000 FIFA paid Barca for Pedri injury at Euro 2024 the Catalans have now received more than €9 million in compensation for three of their players injured during FIFA tournaments over the past year.
