Atletico Madrid recently called up 14-year-old Ruben Gomez to the first team during the international break. He made a strong impression on manager Diego Simeone leading to high expectations for his future at the club.
Real Madrid are also keen on Gomez and have been monitoring his progress closely. Los Blancos approached him to discuss a potential move.
However Gomez has turned down Real Madrid advances for now. He is content to stay with Atletico Madrid and continue his development under Simeone guidance.
Given his talent and potential Real Madrid may make another attempt to sign Gomez in the future. If his upward trajectory continues Atletico Madrid could also consider fast-tracking his first-team opportunities.
