Manchester City director of football Txiki Begiristain will depart the club at the end of the season bringing an end to his 12-year tenure.
Begiristain who turned 60 in August had initially planned to step back at 55 but continued due to his commitment to the City project and partnership with manager Pep Guardiola.
The club hierarchy endorsed Begiristain decision to leave and a replacement has been lined up to start in early 2025.
Begiristain played a key role in recruiting his successor and will oversee a six-month handover period.
The Spaniard joined City in 2012 reuniting with CEO Ferran Soriano with whom he worked at Barcelona from 2008 to 2010.
Under Begiristain guidance City has become a dominant force in English football.
