Luka Modric scored a beautiful freekick to help Croatia defeat Poland 1-0 in the Nations League group stage on Sunday.
After the game Modric was asked when he plans to retire from football.
With me you never know. We have to go game by game Modric replied.
I cant think about the future. When I no longer feel the fire in me I will retire. Only I can feel that fire and make the decision.
I am happy to still be here to help the team to achieve new victories. At my age it is difficult to predict. I wont need anyone to tell me until then I still here the iconic midfielder added.
Modric turned 39 this September which means he will be approaching 40 by the time his Real Madrid contract is up next year.
However the Croatian legend just isn thinking of retirement yet. Perhaps Modric could feature in another World Cup in 2026.
