Carlo Ancelotti believes his squad is missing at least one centre-back according to The Athletic Mario Cortegana.
The Italian also asked the club for an addition to his staff but the board told him to rely on someone who is already in the system.
This is not the first time Real Madrid act against Ancelotti wishes. The head coach reportedly wanted to sign a top-quality striker following Karim Benzema exit but the club only got him Joselu on loan.
Real Madrid were expected to sign Leny Yoro last summer. However the French centre-back joined Manchester United instead and the club decided not to target anyone else.
Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao are the only fit centre-backs at the moment. David Alaba is only expected back in November.
