This is even though the Spaniard contract doesnt expire before 2026 and he has a €1bn release clause inserted into his deal.
Barca want to ensure that Pedri is playing for the club for many many years to come and are trying to reward him with a fitting long-term deal.
The Spanish midfielder is considered as one of the non-transferrable players at the club. He is valued highly under Hansi Flick and is going to be a major asset under him.
Pedri made 34 appearances for Barca across all competitions last season scoring four goals and providing five assists in all competitions.
