Keisuke Honda has had an impressive career. Most fans remember his outstanding performances for Japan in the 2010 and 2014 and 2018 World Cups. He also played for AC Milan.
But few know that he is still pursuing a professional career. And that surprising because he already finished it in 2021 coached the Cambodian national team from 2018 to 2023 and started his career again this year.
The Japanese legend has not played since a stint with a Lithuanian club in 2021. Now he has decided to hold off his retirement with Bhutanese champions Paro FC to capitalise on his fame in Asia. Paro play in the top league of Bhutan a Buddhist kingdom on the eastern edge of the Himalayas.
It is likely that Honda appearance at Paro will be his last as a professional but Paro believes he will have a lasting impact on football in Bhutan.
His participation will not only strengthen our team. It will also be of use for promoting football across Bhutan the club said in a statement.
