Man United have confirmed the signing of Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich.
The centre-back has signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils. It also has an option to be extended until 2030.
Man United will reportedly be paying the German club a fee of €45m plus €5m in potential add-ons for this signing.
Sporting Director Dan Ashworth voiced his delight over the signing saying Matthijs is an outstanding defender and proven winner who will add quality experience and leadership to our existing group of senior players.
De Ligt has experience of working with Erik ten Hag and played under him at Ajax winning an Eredivise title and guiding them to the 2018-19 Champions League semi-final.
The 24-year-old made 73 appearances for Bayern in two years helping them win the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal Cup in the 2022-23 season.
