Barcelona have apparently failed to sign Nico Williams despite trying to land the player for the whole summer.

The Catalans cannot afford the forward €58m release clause and wont be able to register his salary with La Liga even if the clause is miraculously paid.

Spanish journalist Marcal Lorente has sharply criticised Joan Laporta for his failure to land the Spain international.

Lorente tweeted Barça do not rule out the signing of Nico Williams it is Nico Williams who rules out Barça because Laporta has not done his homework.

After saying that we can afford this type of signing he cannot guarantee his registration 5 days before the start of the league.
