Man United pursuit of a new right-back has taken a surprising turn with Inter Milan Denzel Dumfries emerging as a potential target.
The 28-year-old Netherlands international has entered the final year of his contract at San Siro and is hesitant to negotiate an extension until the transfer window closes.
Dumfries is attracted to the idea of joining United but a move would only be possible if Aaron Wan-Bissaka rejects a transfer to West Ham United.
Wan-Bissaka is currently in talks with the Hammers but favours a move to Inter Milan which could pave the way for a potential swap deal involving Dumfries.
However United priority remains selling Wan-Bissaka to West Ham and signing Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich with talks ongoing.
Dumfries who impressed in Serie A last season with four goals and five assists is waiting for the right opportunity to arise before making his next move.
