Barcelona remain linked with Dani Olmo and Nico Williams although those transfers are in serious danger of falling through due to Barca financial limitations.
Club president Joan Laporta has now dropped the first hint that Barca may not sign Williams or Olmo after all.
We go to the market to sign a player if we need him but our philosophy is to discover and develop young talents Laporta said in an event hosted in the United States.
By referencing Barca ideology of discovering young talent Laporta plays down the importance of spending money in the transfer market this summer.
According to reports Barca have offered to pay for Olmo in instalments which have been flatly rejected by RB Leipzig. Meanwhile Williams seems set to stay at Bilbao next season after holding talks with his family.
Thus Barcelona may have already given up on signing any player this summer after weighing up their options.
This may have to do with Barca youngsters doing so well in preseason with wins against Man City and Real Madrid.
