According to Fabrizio Romano via Give Me Sport Matthijs de Ligt has communicated his preference to join Manchester United to his agent.

His agent has reportedly been instructed to negotiate only with the Red Devils as De Ligt time at Bayern Munich comes to an end.

De Ligt 24 has neither been a regular starter for Bayern nor for the Netherlands at the Euro 2024. He wishes to join a side that can promise regular game time.

Man United are short of a centre-back since Raphael Varane departure as a free agent. Erik ten Hag past association with De Ligt at Ajax is also a huge advantage.

Romano adds Ten Hag has personally spoken to De Ligt over the past week. The boss appears to have done his job as the Dutch defender is now convinced to move to Old Trafford.
