Enzo Maresca has reportedly decided upon who will be his no.1 starting goalkeeper at Chelsea next season.
As per the Telegraph the Italian gaffer is anticipated to start the 2024/25 season with Robert Sanchez as the starting goalkeeper.
Sanchez will not only be expected to be a great shot-stopper but also be expected to prove his ball-playing ability.
Maresca expects the Spanish goalkeeper to play a similar role to that played by Ederson at Manchester City. That means Sanchez will be expected to play a key part with his build-up play and need to be braver in coming off his goal.
Sanchez fell down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea last season seeing Djordje Petrovic start the majority of the matches in the second half of the campaign.
The Spaniard made 21 appearances for the Blues last season only keeping five clean sheets in all competitions.
