Manchester United have been heavily linked with the signing of Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice amid hopes that Sir Jim Ratcliffe stake in both clubs could help.
The British billionaire has confirmed that this will not be the case due to UEFA rules against multiple ownership.
Speaking to Bloomberg Ratcliffe explained UEFA has said we can sell Todibo to another Premiership club but we can not sell to Manchester United.
But it is not fair for the players and I do not see any achievement.
Ratcliffe may sell his stake in Nice to avoid facing a similar situation in the future.
If Todibo is unable to join the Red Devils will have to start looking at other defensive options.
