According to the BBC Man United are in danger of relegation from the UEFA Europa League to the Europa Conference League next season.
This is because of Ineos. Jim Ratcliffe company holds a majority stake in OGC Nice and a majority stake in Man United.
Both teams qualify for the Europa League next season. But UEFA rules do not allow two teams with the same owner to compete.
As a result United could be relegated to the Conference League. This is because they finished lower in the 2023/24 Premier League than Nice did in Ligue 1 last season.
Ineos must prove to UEFA that the two clubs have different ownership structures and are not aligned in any way.
This is similar to how Belgium Union SG had to restructure their ownership last season to allow them to play in the Europa League with Brighton. That is because Tony Bloom owns ownership in both clubs.
However Ineos are confident they will find a way to ensure that both Man United and Nice can play in the Europa League next season. They made a statement about this saying that we know the positions of both clubs and are in direct talks with UEFA. We are confident we have a way forward for next season at Europa.
