The Evening Standard reports that Enzo Maresca left a positive impression on Chelsea hierarchy during the talks making him the leading candidate to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

In particular the Italian coach has detailed plans to make Enzo Fernandez thrive at the club. The 2022 World Cup winner joined the Blues in January 2023 for a reported fee of 107 million but his form has not been consistent.

It is clear that the Argentine has a lot of talent but so far has not fully demonstrated it at Bridge. So Maresca has highlighted a number of organizational changes that will make sure Chelsea get the best out of the midfield.

It is understood there is interest in the Blues decision as well as the 44-year-old willingness to work as a manager not as a manager.
