Raphael Varane is leaving Manchester United at the end of the season the club announced on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old will depart the club as a free agent after failing to agree a new contract with the Red Devils.
According to the Daily Mail there were complications in negotiations given the centre-back £340.000-a-week salary.
The money will now be available for Man United to spend elsewhere this summer as they navigate Financial Fair Play restrictions.
