Alexander Isak broke the record for most goals scored by a Swedish player in the Premier League season. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored 17 goals in 2016/17 and Isak is 19 years old this season.
In a recent game against Sheffield his skillful run and clear finish helped Newcastle to a 1-1 draw just before half-time. Isak then won with a quiet penalty sealing Sheffield United fate 5-1.
With this performance Isak is now just one goal behind Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland in the race for the Premier League top scorer title.
After the match he said I'm very happy. It is important for us to continue the race for Europe. We got to a bad start and needed a goal against us to get up. The reaction was very good. The manager told us to wake up in the middle of the hour.
Many of my fines have been here at home. I tried to stay calm and focus on the present. I'm thinking I want a hat-trick I do not have yet. Europe is still alive. We need to focus on ourselves and we will see how it works.
