Lamine Yamal starts today at the Bernabeu for Barcelona. He is 16 years 283 days old and the second youngest player to start in El Clasico.
Second? But who is the youngest you can ask.
It was Vicenc Martinez the full-back who started his first and only Clasico at 16 years and 280 days. Back in October last year Lamine broke the Vicenc record by becoming the youngest player to feature but not start in El Clasico.
Interestingly Martinez played only seven games for Barcelona. But his name has been in the history books of the club for almost a century and he set the record for being the youngest player to play in El Clasico in 1941!
